GENERAL TEAM INFORMATION
Website information:
1st practice - Monday, November 14th
Coaching Staff –
Coach Jacob Teichroew - email - [email protected]
Coach Mork, Coach Young, Coach Koehler, Coach Schultz
Requirements for Success:
Coaching Philosophy –
The ski season is more than just fourteen weeks of sweating, stretching, thawing cold fingers and sitting on a bus. Nordic skiing will serve as a way to test each athlete's patience, self-motivation, and attitude. There will be opportunities to come up short and then to overcome and succeed. The coaching staff will be with you and available to you the entire way.
Because we will be functioning together in extreme weather, at high speed on dangerous trails, and hitting personal limits of exhaustion, you will experience a team atmosphere unique to high school sports. You will come to depend on your teammates for encouragement, assistance and their best performance. Each athlete will learn from other teammates and coaches how to better manage themselves. This includes: watching the forecast and planning daily attire, waxing skis and still accomplishing homework requirements. While it sounds over-whelming, these are challenges easily achieved through hard work, determination and positive attitude.
The coaching staff will provide a skiing experience tailored for anyone who wishes to learn to ski. In the end, the beginners will complement the senior racers and vice-verse. Someone who simply wants to learn a sport true to our Minnesota winters will get continued help from coaches and see great examples in senior skiers. Those wishing to race and test their physical limits will be reminded by new skiers of the basic enjoyment of skiing. While racing is not required, producing a successful team of boys and girls to achieve success at the Section and State Meets is a goal of this program. Everyone will play a role in our success: first-time skiers, experienced skiers, captains, coaches, parents, groomers, and the many other supporters.

Practice times, locations, and pick-up:
Required paperwork items:
Rental Ski Equipment:

(click here for used equipment links)
All skiers need boots. Anyone purchasing boots must buy "NNN" or "Pro-Link" compatible boots if they want to use team skis and rollerskis. New skiers have the first option on renting team skis and poles. After 1st year skier needs are filled the remaining equipment will be rented out to returning skiers until nothing is left. Boot buying guide: click here
Adventure Cycle and Ski provides a team discount and is a great supplier of boots, skis, poles, clothing and accessories. Sole Sport is a great supplier of clothing and accessories. Links to used equipment are continuously updated on the website. Take advantage of the used options out there.
Rental Ski Equipment: the purpose of the rental ski equipment is to permit skiers/parents to slowly acquire equipment over several years rather than dropping significant money on everything at once. For example, attempt to first purchase skis and poles of preferred discipline (i.e. Skate skis) during or after the first season. Come the second season, the athlete only needs to rent classic skis and poles. Then acquire classic skis during or after the second season. Come the third season the athlete may only need a pair of poles. USED equipment is a serious option. BRAND NEW equipment is nice but it will never define an athlete's abilities or success. Lastly, consider acquiring equipment as gifts (birthday and holidays).
